Retail stocks were all strong today -- but here is the long and short term view of JCPenney (JCP) (September 04, 2014)

Source: Retail stocks were all strong today -- but here is the long and short term view of JCPenney (JCP) (September 04, 2014)

In this video I want to look at JC Penney ( NYSE:JCP ). This is a stock that I’ve been bullish on for a while; we’ll take a brief look at this. Inverse head and shoulder, left shoulder, head, right shoulder somewhere around there, neckline, you connect this peak, which is in between this low and this one, and then you look at this peak and it’s a little loosey-goosey, but this peaks somewhere around here, which is in between the head here and the right shoulder, so you connect this, and here’s what you get, it’s about $5.00 between the low here of 5.00 and around 10.00 or so; so you add that to the breakout and my price target is about $15.00 or so. That’s something you probably know about because I’ve talked about it several times with “Cramer” a time or two.

My point for mentioning this is this, the stock is working it’s way higher and that’s great, but what I want to point out to you, if you’re long, I want to point out to you that this is not going to go up like this every day. It hit a new high here, not a 52-week high, but we’ll call it a pattern high; it hadn’t been up this high since it was on it’s way down in a big hurry, so it hit a new high here at 11.24, that was the high. Today the stock eclipsed it a little bit, basically the same, 11.28 is the high. This is resistance right now. What you have to do is just understand that this is a little box here; don’t be looking at this saying, “Oh, five or six days of consolidation, now the stock’s going to move higher from here.” It may very well do that, but only if somebody’s really in trouble here on their shorts and they’re trying to push, they’ve got to get in.
There’s a little bullish chatter on JC Penney ( NYSE:JCP ), but generally speaking retail stocks were just up, it had a lot to do with Costco ( NASDAQ:COST ). Look for this to kind of trickle sideways for a while, if it does go up. fine, that’s why I’m already long and that’s why you are too and if you’re not, why not? Did you just hear about this stock? This is really what you’ve got to look for, the slope of the 50-day moving average. This can be trading sideways for a while, all the while the 50-day moving average gets closer, the 20-day moving average gets closer, and it sure seems like every time this stock hits the 20 and the 50 for that matter, the next move is higher.
So look for the potential for this stock to just trickle sideways for a while, I mean it could go sideways for a couple weeks; you mange risk, you don’t predict. I think the stock’s going higher; it could breakout tomorrow, again, it will only be is somebody’s behind the eight ball and they’ve got to cover some stock or they’ve got to buy a bunch. The stock at 30 million shares traded today, there’s plenty of liquidity out here, so patient with this stock; but also be bullish on it, because I think it’s going to work. Ultimately I do think that price target is going to be hit.

The Chart of the Day is Advantage Oil & Gas (AAV).  I found the stock by sorting the 52 week high list to see which stocks are still having momentum and this stock was right near the top of the list. Since the Trend Spotter signaled a buy on 3/18 the stock gained 50.12%.

AAV is an intermediate oil and natural gas corporation, engaged in the exploration and development of oil and natural gas properties in Alberta and Saskatchewan in Canada. Jesse's Café Américain: Gold Daily and Silver Weekly Charts - 340,200 Ounces of Gold Claimed So Far In April

02 APRIL 2014

Gold Daily and Silver Weekly Charts - 340,200 Ounces of Gold Claimed So Far In April

There was intraday commentary on the moral blindness of the US and UK financial establishment and ruling elites here.

So far in April 3,402 gold contracts have been 'stopped,' that is, holders of those contacts have stood for delivery of the 100 oz bars each contract represents.

There are more than enough ounces at the Comex in the deliverable category now at 876,637 ounces.

This is just part of the paper shell game, but it is interesting to watch its progress.  After all, 340,200 ounces of gold is only about 10.6 metric tonnes.  Cumulative physical gold delivery in Shanghai alone last year was well over 2,000 tonnes.

Have you ever wondered how a relatively small force, the British East India company and later the British Raj, was able to control the Indian sub-continent?   Perhaps that is how New York and London are able to govern the world market for gold, and thereby the foundations of money.

Non-Farm Payrolls on Friday.  The stock market seems a bit 'puffy' here, and complacent.

Have a pleasant evening.

Xilinx bulls come back for more - optionMONSTER (02/14/14)

Source:  Xilinx bulls come back for more - optionMONSTER (02/14/14)

February 14, 2014  Fri 4:45 AM CT
XLNX: SEE CHART GET CHAIN FIND STRATEGIES

Xilinx attracted bullish option action earlier this week, and traders are already repositioning for more gains.

optionMONSTER's Heat Seeker system yesterday detected the sale of 2,395 March 50 calls for the bid price of $1.21 and the purchase of 4,790 June 55 calls for the ask price of $0.73. Volume was below open interest in the nearer-dated contracts but above it in the June strike, indicating that a long position was rolled forward.

The trader is selling the March contracts and using the proceeds to purchase twice as many calls at the higher strike three months later. On Wednesday our scanners identified heavy buying in those March 50 calls, which have already seen a signifcant increase in premiums as the stock has risen.

The new long calls lock in the price where XLNX can be purchased through mid-June no matter how far it might rise. But the contracts will expire worthless if shares remain below $55. (See ourEducation section)

XLNX gained 2.21 percent yesterday to close at $49.98. That was a penny off the session peak of $49.99, which is the stock's highest price since June 2001.

The chip maker fell sharply after missing revenue estimates in January, but shares bounced at the $45 level early this month and have been climbing since then. Xilinx rallied on Tuesday after raising its quarterly dividend and receiving a "buy" recommendation from MKM Partners, which initiated coverage of the name with a $54 price target.

Total option volume in the name surpassed 14,400 contracts, 2.5 times its daily average for the last month. Overall calls outnumbered puts by 13 to 1.

Gilead Sciences Inc. ($GILD) averages are at $78.63 (21 day SMA), $75.68 (50 day SMA), $63.67 (200 day SMA). Over the past 52 weeks GILD has traded from a low of $40.16 to a high of $84.40. GILD was last at $80.44 on a volume of 4,541,700. Average daily volume has been at 11,675,330.

Gilead (GILD) has been bouncing along the 50-day moving average since July of 2012. This has been a very reliable technical support level that currently stands at $75.80. The steady uptrend remains intact after a successful test of that key moving average on Friday, February 7th. The stock is currently at $80.35 — just 6% above support. If you trade using chart analysis for a long-term bullish position, a stop that’s above 8% below current stock price levels would generate a prudent risk/reward profile.
Gilead Sciences, Inc. is a research-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops and commercializes new medicines for different medical sectors.

Here’s a look at several holdings of IPO — plenty of stocks to buy. Now….get busy!

Source:  Here’s a look at several holdings of IPO — plenty of stocks to buy. Now….get busy!

Discussed in this article: Renaissance Funds IPO ETF ( $IPO )

I want to look at IPO, Renaissance IPO, it’s an ETF and this is the cool thing, it actually fits the IPO strategy that I talk about. Here’s the enthusiasm high, what this is, is after an IPO is first released there’s going to be a certain amount of enthusiasm for buying the shares. At some point that’s going to peak out, here was like four days in, and then you get a big pullback. So you say, “Okay, where was this high?” Draw it across here, you can trade it down here, but that’s just not part of a strategy that I look at.
When the stock breaks to a new high then you say, “Okay, now everybody’s a winner here,” and you look for this level to be support. And it was support, all the way up until the time that it wasn’t. Well now, we’ve got a 50-day moving average that’s new support, and it’s not going to be too much longer, give it another week or so, maybe a little more, where the 50-day moving average is going to trickle up enough to where the 50-day moving average is coincident with this line, and so you’re going to get a real strong support level right around here.
Now, I was looking at the holdings of this, and some of them were pretty interesting. There’s also Facebook ( NASDAQ:FB ) and Twitter NYSE:TWTR in there, but I’m covering those in our Sector Spotlight for members where we’re looking at some of the social media stocks. We’ll get through some of the others here. If you don’t know which stocks to buy, just buy IPO, I think you’re going to make money, but let me go through a few with these holdings.
Okay, Workday ( NYSE:WDAY ), the stock works, period. It’s trading right up near resistance, this is a stock I think you can get long, buy a little more if it pulls back, but it’s working.
Realogy Holdings ( NYSE:RLGY ); a pullback, higher low, relative to this here, this was resistance here, now its support. I would look at this and say, “Okay, well it’s in kind of sideways consolidation, but this is an okay time to be buying this company, as long as you have a stop just a bit below there.
Splunk ( NASDAQ:SPLK ),nice stock, nice trend. Look at this, this is a thing a beauty, just be long. As long as this stock stays above the 50-day moving average you’re going to make money.
WhiteWave Food Company ( NYSE:WWAV ); support, right along there, there’s the channel, there’s a higher channel. This was the pull back to test support; you would keep a stop, say right below here, and just trust the trend. Trends are your friends all the way up until the time they’re your enemies, when all of a sudden you guys have a parting at the ways. I think this is a nice test for the enthusiasm for this stock, and I think it’s going to work.
ING U.S., VOYA ( NYSE:VOYA ); pulled back below the 50-day moving average, it’s a relatively new issue. Resistance here, broken through, support right now. This is a stock you can own, you’ve got to be patient with it, I wouldn’t really say it’s quote “trending” because the 50-day moving average is just moving sideways. But if you just use this as your reference, put a stop just below that level, it’s all-good.
Spirt Realty Capital ( NYSE:SRC ); as you can see this ING is a holding company for a bunch of different sectors, but there’s a volatility squeeze. Phase 1 breakout, phase 2 pull back, phase 3 a push to new highs. I think this is going to work just fine.
And then finally, Vantiv ( NYSE:VNTV ); nice move back to the 200-day moving average. This is what the long-term chart looks like. Again, a fairly new issue, it was issued less than two years ago and you can see a nice trend higher here as well.
So these stocks really work, but if you can’t figure out which one to buy, you wish you could buy a little bit of everything, just buy IPO. Again, you get Facebook ( NASDAQ:FB ) and Twitter ( NYSE:TWTR ) in there as well.
